From the collection loaned to C.I.H.S. by Bob Averill of Sanibel's "Islander Trading Post", this hand-colored postcard of Captiva's Chadwick Estates features images on the front with captions of Coconut Walk, Fruit on Captiva, A Catch of Tarpon, Famous Shelling Beach and Safe Swimming. Text on front includes furnished cottages and homecooked meals if desired. Text of the postcard's backside includes lore of Captiva's pirate tales, buried treasure, information about Caloosa Indians, and Captiva being headquarters of the largest cultivated lime groves in the world. |
