A copy from microfiche records located at Lee County Records office in Fort Myers, shows the warranty deed of Herbert D. and Hattie E. Brainerd to Walter H Harris, dated 11/19/1900, in the amount of $300 and "contains twenty acres more or less".. While the land description refers to this property being located in what we currently know as "Buckingham", it is archived here, as the Bainerd names are significant to Captiva history. Interesting to note: witness to the document is John E. Morris, a Captiva Island property owner. |
