This photo is part of a collection provided to CIHS by Andreas Bieri and shows the destruction of the beach in front of The Mucky Duck due to a storm. There is a tree, mostly uprooted by storm surge and a sign on the tree trunk indicates that area is "Customer Parking Only". This tree had previosuly been in the parking lot and, in the photo is now surrounded by Gulf waters.

Several people stand on the deck at The Mucky Duck restaurant and observe the on-coming waves as they wash away the land under and around the deck. A few people sit at a picnic bench the base of which is almost under water due to the storm. Windows at The Mucky Duck have been covered by wood panels. From a box given to C.I.H.S. by South Seas Island Resort in January 2018, this grainy, black and white photos shows a food stand (reportedly located at Chadwick Estates property), date unknown. In the photo one can see two buildings, a Coca Cola sign, several people and automobiles on what appears to be the beach.

From a box given to C.I.H.S. by South Seas Island Resort in January 2018, this grainy, black and white photo shows an aerial view of the beach in what appears to be an early beach nournishment project. There is a bulldozer and a pipe with sand rushing out. In the background of the photo one can see a stilt-home, located directly on the water's edge. There are several people on the beach in this photo; date and location is unknown.

A mid-island aerial view seen from the gulfside includes Captiva landmarks Chapel by the Sea (admist thick foliage on the right side of the photo) and Andy's bar and dock (center of the photo), Palm Avenue, and the Gulf View Inn (lower center of the photo).
