Summary |
After nearly three months of fund-raising, the Buck Key Preservation Fund Committee reached its $1.63 million goal. After the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and the State of Florida designated $5.22 million to the project, the responsibility for raising the remaining funds fell on the community. Ownership of the land, which will be purchased from Mariner Properties for $6.85 million, will be transferred jointly to the Fish & Wildlife Service and the State, but the property will be managed by the J.N. "Ding" Darling Wildlife Refuge. (NOTE: Page 2 does not belong to this article.) |
