Description |
The Captiva Island Historical Society recreates an old-fashioned community picnic during their "Island Jamboree" event, which was free and open to the public. Highlights of the event included fried chicken and fried mullet dinner with pie for dessert, live Americana/Bluegrass music, a pie contest, jars of homemade mango chutney, and island games including a milk can toss (with mini coconuts) and flukey ball. The top three pies were auctioned off, raising $1,100. which was donated to the Captiva Chapel by the Sea's Missions Outreach program. Santiva Chronicle reporter and photographer provided these photos. |
