Chalice - 19.12.01.01
This pewter chalice is from Diane Ballinger Schwartz who indicated it was found buried in the sand behind the Chapel in the 1960s by her parents Dale & Mary Ballinger. In December 2019, CIHS Chairman Tom Libonate presented the chalice to Nathalie Pyle, President of Captiva Chapel by the Sea Board of Associates.

The Captiva Island Historical Society recreates an old-fashioned community picnic during their "Island Jamboree" event, which was free and open to the public. Highlights of the event included fried chicken and fried mullet dinner with pie for dessert, live Americana/Bluegrass music, a pie contest, jars of homemade mango chutney, and island games including a milk can toss (with mini coconuts) and flukey ball.
