Twelve photos of the April 23, 2015 awards ceremony for Captiva Island resident, Karel Aster, the last survivor of a group of 14 Czech nationals who volunteered to serve for the United States Army after Japan attacked Pearl Harbour and invaded the Philippines in 1941. Known as the South Seas Plantation Project, 655,000 cubic yards of sand were placed in a project area that extended from FDEP monument R 87 to monument R 93.4. The work was completed in October 1981. These twelve photos were in a box of miscellaneous materials, donated to the CIHS by South Seas Island Resort in 2017. The exact date of these photos are unknown, though one can surmise they are circa autumn or winter of 1981.
