Palm Sunday at Captiva Chapel by the Sea. The day prior, under Queenie's tutelage, palm crosses were handmade by Kristie Anders, Diane Fugit, Anna Irvine, Merni Libonate, and Queenie Viglione. On Palm Sunday those palm crosses were offered to chapel guests. Palm crosses are also placed on every headstone at the historic cemetery.

The Captiva Island Historical Society recreates an old-fashioned community picnic during their "Island Jamboree" event, which was free and open to the public. Highlights of the event included fried chicken and fried mullet dinner with pie for dessert, live Americana/Bluegrass music, a pie contest, jars of homemade mango chutney, and island games including a milk can toss (with mini coconuts) and flukey ball. Board Directors Dave Jensen, Kristie Anders, Mike Boris met with Reverend John Carter and his son-in-law Bill Rupe. Rev. Carter is the grandson of George Washington Carver, one of Captiva's first homesteaders.
